We finally got snow here over the weekend. In fact it has snowed a little bit for the past 3 days. I honestly could do without the snow but I don’t know that it would truly feel like Christmas without it.
The snow looks so pretty when it is falling. The fresh blanket laying over the trees is beautiful. If it only stayed around for one month, maybe two, I wouldn’t mind so much but in Wisconsin the winters seem to last forever. I know I shouldn’t complain though because compared to places like Alaska, our winters are nothing!
We live right next to a park that they decorate with Christmas lights. It’s so pretty. We get a front row view every year and never have to leave the house!
We put up our Christmas tree over the weekend. The best thing about our tree is that it is an artificial pre-lit tree. So the lights are already on it and we don’t have to mess with stringing them on and off each year. It’s great!! I bought it after Christmas a couple of years ago on clearance. I LOVE after Christmas sales!
The kids love to decorate and I enjoy sitting back and watching them. It’s funny because for as controlling as I am with other things, this is one thing that I can just let them have at it. I let them just decorate it however they want. They put the ornaments wherever they want and put up however many they want to and it’s fine with me. I think it looks beautiful.
I started a tradition when the kids were little. Each year after Christmas, I would buy a Hallmark ornament on clearance for each one of them. It already has the year on it so I would just use a Sharpie marker and put their name on it. I would try to pick out an ornament that would match their interest that year. A Disney Princess for the girls, a super hero for the boys, etc. They love putting up their own ornaments each year. Then I figure when they are older and get a tree of their own in their own house, they can pack up their ornaments and have a collection of their own to decorate with.
Other than wrapping all of the presents and setting out some milk and cookies, we are all set for Santa to arrive!
