I don’t know that I’ve ever put fitness and fun in the same category. A lot of people maybe do but I’m not one of them. I find fitness to be a chore. But what if it wasn’t a chore? What if you could have a little fun while getting fit? Would you find some time to get in a walk or run everyday? How about if your work place offered a fun program to help you get fit? Would you participate?
That’s exactly what Race to the Moon is all about. Race to the Moon is a corporate wellness program that aims to get members more fit and active by walking or running through offering free wireless pedometers which tracks their steps and rewards them for milestones and total steps.
Hosted by the social network Cafe Well and sponsored by HealthAmerica, Race to the Moon represents a new breed of wellness program that is more fun, more rewarding and more effective for consumers because it leverages the power and support of social networking with incentives and fun. Social networking has become a powerful channel that the healthcare industry is just beginning to understand how to leverage. Race to the Moon represents pioneering work by HealthAmerica and their partnership with Café Well will continue to achieve new levels in wellness promotion and management. (Only select Health America members are eligible for Race to the Moon.)
This program sounds great! Especially if you can do it at work. There are women at my husbands work that get together everyday and walk around the building. It seems like there are always weight loss pools going on. People are very competitive. What a great way to get fit and have a little fun while doing it. I think this is a great thing for companies to sponsor!
