I recently was sent a Perplexus to try out and review. My family is big into video games so I was really excited to try this out. I love the idea of no electricity, no batteries, no TV, etc. and it’s educational! But will my kids like it? Will it keep their attention? The answer…absolutely!
The minute we took the Perplexus out of the box, it had 3 out of 4 of my kids’ attention. I didn’t even have a chance to try it out. Any time I would try it, one of them would take it from me! My 9 year old daughter Abbie, spends the most time with it. She loves putting together any sort of puzzle and is very creative and patient.
The true test would be my 12 year old who is glued to video games. At first he picked it up, was frustrated when he couldn’t solve it right away and put it down. That’s him with everything. He needs to solve things right away or he’s done. Then he gave it another try and another try until he finished it on the 3rd level. I was amazed that something that was not a video game could actually keep his attention.
The 7 year old twins like it too. They have a little bit of a harder time with it but it’s teaching them problem solving and thinking skills and I love that! The best part is that while they are holding the Perplexus, they are completely silent!
We actually leave it sitting out on our entertainment center so the kids can pick it up and play with it whenever they want. They’ll pick it up and play with it for 15-30 minutes (or even longer) and then put it down again. Even guests that come over get introduced to the Perplexus.
I would definitely recommend this not only for kids but for adults too! I finally was able to get it away from my kids and it’s challenging and addicting in a good way! You don’t want to put it down because you need to solve it!
I was given the product free of charge to review. The opinions are 100% my own.
