Homemade Ice Cream in a Bag
At our homeschool group the kids made homemade ice cream in a bag! How fun. It sounded like something we needed to try at home so we gave it a shot.
The kids had fun although I had to do a lot of the shaking. It turned out great, the kids loved the treat and the ice cream was yummy!
Can be a good frugal option too instead of buying ice cream from the store.
Here’s the recipe:
1/2 cup milk or half and half
1 T sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla.
Mix in a small freezer Ziploc bag.
Fill a gallon size Ziploc freezer bag 1/2 full with ice. Add 3T. salt to ice.
Put smaller bag inside larger bag. Shake 5 minutes. (use a towel or gloves to keep hands warm)
When removing the smaller bag, quickly dip it in cold water to get the salt off the outside of the bag otherwise the ice cream gets a salty flavor.
Add crushed cookies, sprinkles, etc. if desired.
