So funny story…you know it’s going to be a good one when any blog starts out with “funny story” but maybe that’s just my opinion. I decided that I was going to change the way I organize my coupons.
For one, my binder started getting really heavy keeping all of the back log of inserts that I was keeping in there. If you have read my blog of how I organize my coupons, you know that I was clipping my coupons as I use them and then keeping the past inserts in an accordion file in my binder. It actually was working out great except that I think I was missing some really great coupons because I didn’t know they were there. That was the second reason that I re-analyzed my method.
After taking out all of the inserts out of my binder, I had this huge stack to go through. UGH! That was a chore! I got out my scrapbooking cutter and I started cutting. My kids saw a new ‘toy’ and wanted to help. So I had my 9 year old, Abbie, and the 6 year old twins, Faith and Caleb, all clipping coupons in no time! I only clipped the coupons that I thought I would use. Then I decided that I probably wouldn’t be ‘needing’ the older inserts because they were close to expiration date anyway…right? I contemplated it for a bit and thought, nah, I’m sure I won’t need them! So I put them all in a pile and let my kids have at them. They chopped, sliced and had a good ‘ol time. Abbie even made a scrapbook! They really all volunteered and had fun…it was not child labor!
Later that night, I logged on and one of my fellow bloggers, Girls With Coupons, had pointed me to a great sale happening next week. I read through the details of the sale and cringed when I new that the coupon required was in the pile that my kids had chopped, sliced and possibly scrapbooked! The leftovers were now in a bag ready to go in the recycle bin so I carefully sorted through an actually found the coupon I was looking for! YAY! Oh but the story isn’t over!
This morning yet another great deal pops up that I need a coupon for that is now in the ‘grave yard’! Ugh, what have I done?! lol I guess I have learned my lesson!
