Virtual Christmas Shopping
Guest post by John Giusti
I didn’t really want to make trips out to the stores this year, at least not as many as I had in previous years around the holiday season. Stores are always crammed with customers, there is a lack of employees available to assist me, and the promise of holiday deals never really lives up to all the hype.
What I have found to be exceptionally convenient around this time of year is online shopping. Along with ordering gifts that will be delivered to my house to personally wrap, I am able to send out friendly greetings to family and friends right from my computer.
Ordering a nice bouquet of flowers for my grandmother is the first order of business. I usually bring her some on Christmas Eve. Although this is appreciated, she is overwhelmed with cooking and cleaning the house when I arrive, and having to find a vase or somewhere to put the flowers is just more stress on her. Choosing to have them shipped quickly, so that she receives them a day or two ahead of time, is less stress on both her and me.
Next, because I will not be seeing the spouse’s side of the family, I am able to order and send a nice bottle of wine to my wife’s mother. She likes red wine and the father likes white wine; I am even able to find packages from Celebrations Wine Club that include both a bottle of red and white wine.
And now, in the midst of my Christmas shopping, because I am at home on the computer, I will have a glass of wine for myself, for there’s no drive home in traffic from shopping this year!
