My husband went back to school and was working on getting his BA. It was all online courses. Tim was going back to college in the later years of his life. And by later years, I don’t mean “golden years”, I just mean not early twenties. But I think anytime you start college, it’s an adjustment. Even for someone fresh out of high school. College is just another animal all together. They expect a lot out of you, throw a ton of homework at you, all to “get you ready for the real world.” Great thanks!
What about if you’ve already been living in the “real world?” What then? Do I still need all this extra stuff you’re throwing at me? In order to get that piece of paper that says I have a college degree? I guess so.
Anyone that has gone to college later in life and has gone through this process, knows that it’s not easy. You’re out of practice. Things have changed, you’re not in the habit of studying, etc. And when it comes to writing research papers, well that’s just a whole other story. Yikes!!
I remember him having to write his first research paper for his Psychology. Wow! Neither one of us had written a research paper in years. Not knowing where to even begin was an under statement. He eventually got through it but it was a struggle. Now a days there are a lot more websites and tools available to help, thankfully.
I’m just glad that that’s behind both of us. Now to wait until our kids start getting into the college age years. Oh boy!!
